Item Filter Comes to Medieval Realms
Hi everyone,
I’m pleased to share a new addition to the server from Bamse: Item Filter.
Medieval Realms restricts certain items that don’t belong in its setting. Most of the time, you never need to think about those restrictions. Occasionally, though, one of those items turns up somewhere it shouldn’t.
The rubber duck has become a memorable example. If one appears in a loot chest, players cannot take it. The duck remains inside, so the chest never becomes empty—and an occupied chest cannot be picked up. Anyone who has encountered this will know how frustrating it is to finish looting a chest and then be unable to take it away.
Item Filter helps us deal with situations like this. It makes the server’s item restrictions more consistent and clears restricted items that would otherwise get in the way of normal play. The rules are there to preserve the character of Medieval Realms; they shouldn’t leave players stuck with a chest they cannot empty.
This is Bamse’s first release since officially joining Team Medieval. Many of you will already know the work he has put into our public map and the help he has given players over the years. I’m particularly pleased that his first official release tackles a problem players have encountered in the world. Thank you, Bamse.
Work on the next generation of Medieval Realms is underway, but we’re continuing to improve the server you’re playing on today. Item Filter is one of those improvements.
If you find a loot chest that still cannot be emptied or picked up, please let us know in the #bugs-and-issues channel on Discord. Include its location if you can, so we can take a look.
