Hi everyone, I’m pleased to share a new addition to the server from Bamse: Item Filter. Medieval Realms restricts certain items that don’t belong in its setting. Most of the...
Blueprints Have Arrived on Medieval Realms!
After almost nine years of Medieval Realms, one of the longest-standing restrictions on the server is finally being lifted.
Blueprints are now available!
Since the early days of the Realm, blueprints have remained disabled. That’s always been a deliberate decision: Medieval Realms is a survival building world, and we’ve wanted the towns, castles, workshops, ships, houses and countless other creations across the world to represent the work of the players who actually built them.
But Rising World has changed considerably over those years, and so has Medieval Realms. Blueprints can be an incredibly useful creative tool without replacing the thing that makes building here special.
So, after plenty of discussion within Team Medieval, we’re finally opening them up.
What are blueprints for?
We want blueprints to help with the details that bring your creations to life.
Perhaps you’ve designed a particularly good cart that you want to use around your settlement. Maybe you’ve made a detailed chair, table or piece of furniture. It could be a statue, decoration, market stall, machinery, architectural feature or another smaller creation that you’d otherwise have to recreate piece-by-piece every time.
Those are exactly the kinds of things we’d like blueprints to make easier.
What we don’t want is for blueprints to replace building itself.
Medieval Realms is still a survival world. When you travel across the Realm and discover someone’s house, workshop, castle, village or other substantial structure, you should be seeing something that was built there by a player. You should be able to appreciate the time, resources, thought and craftsmanship that went into creating it.
We don’t want the Realm to become somewhere entire buildings are simply pasted into the landscape.
Blueprints should enhance what you build — not replace the process of building it.
Initial blueprint limits
We’re deliberately starting relatively small:
Maximum size: 16 × 16 × 16
Maximum construction elements: 512
Players can create blueprints from their own creations, but cannot create blueprints from another player’s work.
These limits aren’t necessarily permanent. This is the first time we’ve allowed blueprints in nearly nine years, so we’d rather start cautiously, see how the community uses them, and increase the limits later if we find they’re unnecessarily restrictive.
This is something players have asked about for a very long time, and we’re looking forward to seeing what you create with the additional freedom.
Nearly nine years after the gates were closed to them…
Blueprints have finally arrived on Medieval Realms.
Use blueprints for the details. Build the Realm itself.
